5th June
From Karumba it was a long drag South to the Burke and Willes road house on the Burke Developmental road. We topped up with fuel ( regardless of price) as you do, whenever you come to a fuel stop, as you are not sure where the next one will be.
I was doing my bit to hold up the archway but had to give up as we carried on our way. I think it is still standing!!
From here we diverted off to the Wills Developmental road. I can see why they call them development roads.
You just hope a road train doesn't appear over the horizon.
We arrived at Gregory Downs and looked for the free camp by the river. We found it and this is what we found.
A great spot by a typical NZ river!! Deep, fast flowing and Crystal clear. The water comes from the spring fed Lawn Hill National Park,up the road.
Looking down from the bridge we are under the tree on the left, by the river.
A great spot where we spent 3 days and from here we went into the Lawn Hill National Park.
But that's for the next installment.
Till next time.
Dave and Helen.
