26th Sept
We finally arrived at Coral Bay and set up the van ready for a look around the area.
That Bus seems to be following us around. When you think motor home you don't think of this,do you.
6 bedrooms, 2 levels and apparently not too good in a cross wind. I guy, 2 daughters and a grand daughter travelling in this. He has been married 6 times I was told. You would think he would have learned after the first 2!! Maybe he is on the road running away from number 7!! Who knows.
Anyhow we went for a walk to the beach and was just in time for the afternoon fish feeding.
They come in and swim around your feet and go between your legs, which is a bit spooky when they brush against you. They are Snapper and all a good eating size, but with the crowd around it wasn't the done thing to try and catch one.
The kids had a ball feeding them, the big kids just had to watch.
The bay was wide and reasonably shallow with a lot of Coral scattered around. Not the colour full type you get on the East coast but interesting all the same.
I Snorkeled a couple of times though the water was a bit cool so only for about 30 mins at a time.
I chose the far away shot for obvious reasons, but just think James Bond coming out of the water in a Film I cant remember the name of, just that it was Daniel Craig. I know, you have to dream sometimes.!
We walked down the beach for about 3km each way to a Shark Nursery and had a look around but it was the wrong time of the year for any small sharks to be swimming around. It was a good walk anyway.
A lot of bird life on the Beach and a bit in the water as well.
Remember this is a Shark Nursery!! All we saw was a couple of small Rays.
The next day we had a look around and found the Marina around the Coast a bit.
Coral Bay was a lovely place to stop and as we left the School holiday invasion started with 150 vans, tents, camper trailers etc, arriving the day we left. Just got out in time!
We carried on down the Coast until we got to---
Yes we are heading South and picking up some significant markers on the way.
Next its the Blowholes, (keep it seemly please) and another great free camp.
Cheers Dave and Helen
